An Act to amend the Civil Aviation Act 1964

BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1 Short Title

This Act may be cited as the Civil Aviation Amendment Act 1970, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Civil Aviation Act 1964 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).

2 Regulations

(1)

Section 29 of the principal Act is hereby amended by repealing subsection (4) (as amended by section 5 of the Civil Aviation Amendment Act 1969), and substituting the following subsections:

“(4)

Any regulations made under this section may confer on the Director of the Civil Aviation Division power to issue, in such manner as may be prescribed in the regulations, instructions, orders, or requirements for all or any of the following purposes:

“(a)

Ensuring the safety of aircraft and persons flying in aircraft:

“(b)

Prescribing the syllabus and other requirements for such examinations relating to civil aviation as may be specified in the regulations:

“(c)

After consultation with such persons interested in civil aviation as the Minister may direct, providing for the abatement of noise made by aircraft.

“(5)

Every such instruction, order, or requirement shall have effect according to its tenor in the same manner and to the same extent as if it were a regulation made pursuant to this Act.”

(2)

Section 5 of the Civil Aviation Amendment Act 1969 is hereby consequentially repealed.

This Act is administered in the Ministry of Transport.
