An Act to amend the Coroners Act 1951
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
1 Short Title
This Act may be cited as the Coroners Amendment Act 1970, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Coroners Act 1951 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
2 Appointment of Coroners
Section 2 of the principal Act is hereby amended by adding to subsection (3) the following proviso:
“Provided that any person who has retired from the office of Coroner on attaining that age may from time to time be reappointed by warrant for such term not exceeding 1 year as shall be specified in the warrant, but shall not be reappointed for any term which, together with all previous terms of reappointment, exceeds a period of 2 years.”
This Act is administered in the Department of Justice.
