Analysis
An Act to amend the Historic Places Act 1954
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
1 Short Title
This Act may be cited as the Historic Places Amendment Act 1970, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Historic Places Act 1954 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
2 Membership of New Zealand Historic Places Trust
(1)
Section 5 of the principal Act is hereby amended by repealing subsection (1), and substituting the following subsection:
“(1)
The Trust shall consist of—
“(a)
One member, to be appointed as the Chairman of the Trust:
“(b)
The Secretary for Internal Affairs:
“(c)
The Director-General of Lands:
“(d)
The Commissioner of Works:
“(e)
One member, being a Maori, to be appointed to represent the Maori race:
“(f)
One member, to be appointed on the nomination of the Vice-Chancellors’ Committee constituted under section 46 of the Universities Act 1961:
“(g)
One member, to be appointed on the nomination of the Art Galleries and Museums Association of New Zealand Incorporated:
“(h)
One member, to be appointed on the nomination of the Royal Society of New Zealand:
“(i)
One member, to be appointed on the nomination of the New Zealand Archaeological Association Incorporated:
“(j)
One member, to be appointed on the nomination of the New Zealand Library Association Incorporated:
“(k)
One member, to be appointed on the nomination of the New Zealand Institute of Architects:
“(l)
Three members (being associate members), to be elected by the associate members in accordance with the rules of the Trust.”
(2)
The following enactments are hereby consequentially repealed:
(a)
The Historic Places Amendment Act 1964:
(b)
Subsection (1) of section 2 of the Historic Places Amendment Act 1967:
(c)
Section 2 of the Historic Places Amendment Act 1969.
This Act is administered in the Department of Internal Affairs.
