An Act to amend the National Parks Act 1952
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
1 Short Title
This Act may be cited as the National Parks Amendment Act 1970, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the National Parks Act 1952 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
2 Bylaws
(1)
Section 38 of the principal Act is hereby amended by inserting in subsection (1), after paragraph (a), the following paragraph:
“(aa)
The safety and protection of the public using the park:”.
(2)
Section 38 of the principal Act is hereby further amended by adding to subsection (1) the following paragraphs:
“(g)
Requiring persons holding a licence from the Board to operate any machinery or device in the park to ensure that the machinery or device is fitted with such safety devices or guards as may be required by the Board for the purpose of safeguarding persons in the vicinity of or using the machinery or device:
“(h)
Requiring the operator of any such machinery or device to ensure that such safety devices or guards are fitted to the machinery or device before it is operated:
“(i)
Prescribing the conditions subject to which any such machinery or device may be operated:
“(j)
Providing for the maintenance and repair of such machinery and devices:
“(k)
Requiring safety switches to be fitted to machinery or devices driven by electric current.”
This Act is administered in the Department of Lands and Survey.
