An Act to amend the Coal Mines Act 1925

BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1 Short Title and commencement

(1)

This Act may be cited as the Coal Mines Amendment Act 1971, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Coal Mines Act 1925 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).

(2)

This Act shall come into force on a date to be fixed by the Governor-General by Order in Council.

2 Internal combustion engines in mines

Section 123 of the principal Act is hereby repealed.

3 Regulations

Section 192 of the principal Act is hereby amended by inserting in subsection (1), after paragraph (h), the following paragraph:

“(hh)

Regulating, controlling, or prohibiting the use of internal combustion engines and other machinery in or about mines:”.
