An Act to amend the Fisheries Act 1908
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
1 Short Title and commencement
(1)
This Act may be cited as the Fisheries Amendment Act 1972, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Fisheries Act 1908 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
(2)
This Act shall be deemed to have come into force on the 1st day of January 1964.
2 Interpretation
Section 2 of the principal Act is hereby amended by inserting, after subsection (2) (as added by section 2(5) of the Fisheries Amendment Act 1959), the following subsection:
“(2a)
For the purposes of this Part of this Act, and of any regulations made under this Part of this Act, the grantee under an instrument by way of security over a fishing-boat shall not, by reason of that instrument, be deemed to be the owner of the boat or to have had it transferred to or vested in him, nor shall the grantor be deemed, by reason of that instrument, to have ceased to be the owner of the boat.”
This Act is administered in the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries.
