An Act to amend the Imprisonment for Debt Limitation Act 1908

BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1 Short Title

This Act may be cited as the Imprisonment for Debt Limitation Amendment Act 1972, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Imprisonment for Debt Limitation Act 1908 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).

2 Effect of adjudication in bankruptcy on committal order under judgment summons

Section 8a of the principal Act (as inserted by section 2(1) of the Imprisonment for Debt Limitation Amendment Act 1967) is hereby amended by omitting from subsection (3) the words “after a judgment debtor is arrested he is adjudged bankrupt”, and substituting the words “a judgment debtor is arrested”.

This Act is administered in the Department of Justice.
