An Act to amend the Land Settlement Promotion and Land Acquisition Act 1952

BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1 Short Title and commencement

(1)

This Act may be cited as the Land Settlement Promotion and Land Acquisition Amendment Act 1972, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Land Settlement Promotion and Land Acquisition Act 1952 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).

(2)

This Act shall come into force on the 1st day of January 1973.

2 Conversion to metric system

The principal Act is hereby amended—

(a)

By omitting from paragraph (r) of subsection (3) of section 23 the words “5 acres”, and substituting the words “2 hectares”:

By omitting from subparagraph (i) of paragraph (f) of subsection (1) of section 35b (as inserted by section 5 of the Land Settlement Promotion and Land Acquisition Amendment Act 1968 and amended by section 2 of the Land Settlement Promotion and Land Acquisition Amendment Act 1969) the words “1 acre”, and substituting the words “4,000 square metres”:

By omitting from subparagraph (ii) of the said paragraph (f) the words “5 acres”, and substituting the words “2 hectares”:

By omitting from subparagraph (iii) of the said paragraph (f) the words “1 acre”, and substituting the words “4,000 square metres”:

By omitting from subparagraph (iv) of the said paragraph (f) the words “100 miles”, and substituting the words “150 kilometres”:

(f)

By omitting from subparagraph (i) of paragraph (aa) of subsection (3) of section 35h (as inserted by section 5 of the Land Settlement Promotion and Land Acquisition Amendment Act 1968 and amended by section 3(1) of the Land Settlement Promotion and Land Acquisition Amendment Act 1969) the words “100 miles”, and substituting the words “150 kilometres”.

This Act is administered in the Department of Lands and Survey.
