An Act to amend the Land Drainage Act 1908
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
1 Short Title
This Act may be cited as the Land Drainage Amendment Act 1974, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Land Drainage Act 1908 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
2 Metric conversions
(1)
Section 31b of the principal Act (as inserted by section 2(1) of the Land Drainage Amendment Act 1965) is hereby amended—
(a)
By omitting from subsection (1) the words “each acre”
, and substituting the words “each area specified by the Board”
:
(b)
By omitting the word “acreage”
wherever it occurs, and substituting in each case the word “area”
:
(c)
By omitting from subsection (4)(d) in subsection (6) the word “acreages”
, and substituting the word “areas”
:
(d)
By omitting from subsection (8)(b) (as substituted by section 176(1) of the Rating Act 1967) the words “each acre”
, and substituting the words “each specified area”
:
(e)
By omitting from subsection (9) the words “per acre”
, and substituting the words “per specified area”
.
(2)
Section 62(1) of the principal Act (as substituted by section 7 of the Land Drainage Amendment Act 1913) is hereby amended—
(a)
By omitting the words “one mile”
, and substituting the words “1.5 kilometres”
:
(b)
By omitting the words “ten feet”
, and substituting the words “3 metres”
.
(3)
Section 80(1) of the principal Act is hereby amended by omitting the words “four miles”
, and substituting the words “6.5 kilometres”
.
(4)
Section 9(4) of the Rangitaiki Land Drainage Act 1956 (as added by section 2 of the Rangitaiki Land Drainage Amendment Act 1957) is hereby amended by omitting the word “acreage”
, and substituting the word “area”
.
3 Payment of money
Section 48 of the principal Act is hereby amended by inserting, after the word “cheque”
, the words “or other instrument (not being a promissory note or bill)”
.
