Pursuant to section 32 of the Ombudsmen Act 1975, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following order.
Order
1 Title
This order is the Ombudsmen Act (Schedule 1—Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment) Order 2012.
2 Commencement
This order comes into force on 1 July 2012.
3 Part 1 of Schedule 1 of Ombudsmen Act 1975 amended
-
(1) In the Ombudsmen Act 1975, Schedule 1, Part 1, delete the items relating to the Department of Building and Housing, the Department of Labour, the Ministry of Economic Development, and the Ministry of Science and Innovation.
(2) In the Ombudsmen Act 1975, Schedule 1, Part 1, insert in its appropriate alphabetical order
“Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment”
.
4 Revocations
Revoke:
(a) the Ombudsmen (Schedule 1) Order 2004 (SR 2004/351):
(b) the Ombudsmen Act (Schedule 1—Ministry of Science and Innovation) Order 2010 (SR 2010/246).

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This order, which comes into force on 1 July 2012,—

removes the names of the following departments and ministries from Part 1 of Schedule 1 of the Ombudsmen Act 1975:
the Department of Building and Housing:
the Department of Labour:
the Ministry of Economic Development:
the Ministry of Science and Innovation; and
inserts the name of the Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment into Part 1 of that schedule.
These amendments reflect the abolition of the departments and ministries named and the transfer of their functions to the new Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment.
The effect of the order is that, on and after 1 July 2012, both the Ombudsmen Act 1975 and the Official Information Act 1982 will apply to the Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment.
