An Act to extend The Westland and Nelson Coalfields Administration Act 1877.
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title
The Short Title of this Act is The Westland and Nelson Coalfields Administration Act 1901; and it shall form part of and be read together with The Westland and Nelson Coalfields Administration Act 1877 (hereinafter called
“the principal Act”
).
2 Endowment for Westport Harbour Board
The parcel of land described in the Schedule hereto shall be deemed to form part of Schedule 4 to the principal Act, and shall be administered accordingly.
3 Board may prospect for coal

The Westport Harbour Board may from time to time apply such portion of its funds as it thinks fit, not exceeding two thousand dollars in any one year, in prospecting for coal on its endowments.
The reference to
“two thousand dollars”
was substituted, as from 10 July 1967, for a reference to“one thousand pounds”
pursuant to section 7(1) Decimal Currency Act 1964 (1964 No 27).
Schedule
ALL that area in the Nelson Land District, containing by admeasurement 400 acres, more or less, situated partly in the Borough of Westport and partly in Block III, Kawatiri Survey District. Bounded towards the north-east and north generally by the ocean: towards the east generally by the Orowaiti River: towards the south generally by a public road, being the continuation in an easterly direction of Cobden Street, Township of Westport; by a municipal reserve to Derby Street; thence by Derby Street to a point in line with the northern side of Bright Street; thence by a line to and along the northern side of Bright Street to Palmerston Street; thence by Palmerston Street to a point in line with the northern side of Kennedy Street, and by a right line to and by the northern side of the last-mentioned street to the Buller River: and towards the south-west by the said river: excepting from the above-described area all freehold land, education reserves, and Maori reserves, and also a strip of land being a reserve for defence purposes (New Zealand Gazette, 1886, page 786): as the said area of 400 acres, more or less, is delineated upon the plan marked SG 47203, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon edged with blue.

was substituted, as from 27 November 1947, for a reference to“Native”
pursuant to section 2(2) Maori Purposes Act 1947 (1947 No 59).
