An Act to amend the Hospitals Act 1957
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
1 Short Title
This Act may be cited as the Hospitals Amendment Act 1977, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Hospitals Act 1957 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
2 New heading and sections (relating to provision of family planning services) inserted
The principal Act is hereby amended by inserting, after section 64b (as inserted by section 6 of the Hospitals Amendment Act 1976), the following heading and sections:
“Family Planning Services
“64c Family planning advice
Every Board shall ensure that in every hospital under its control that has an obstetric or a gynaecological department or a maternity unit there is provided for patients without charge confidential advice on contraception, sterilisation, and other family planning matters.
“64d Facilities for sterilisation
Every Board shall ensure that in-patient and out-patient facilities for the sterilisation of male and female patients are provided in appropriate institutions under its control.”
This Act is administered in the Department of Health.
