An Act to amend the Marginal Lands Act 1950
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
1 Short Title
This Act may be cited as the Marginal Lands Amendment Act 1977, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Marginal Lands Act 1950 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
2 Functions and powers of Board
Section 12 of the principal Act is hereby amended by inserting, after subsection (2b) (as inserted by section 2(1) of the Marginal Lands Amendment Act 1970), the following subsection:
“(2c)
Notwithstanding anything in the foregoing provisions of this section, the Board, in the exercise of its functions under this Act, may make advances or readvances on current account or otherwise to any applicant approved by the Board (not being the owner or occupier of farm land or marginal land) for the purchase of any freehold or leasehold or other estate or interest in land (whether marginal land or not) which, on its own, is, in the opinion of the Board, incapable of being farmed as an economic farm unit.”
This Act is administered in the Department of Lands and Survey.
