An Act to amend the Energy Resources Levy Act 1976
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
1 Short Title and commencement
(1)
This Act may be cited as the Energy Resources Levy Amendment Act 1978, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Energy Resources Levy Act 1976 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
(2)
This Act shall come into force on the 1st day of June 1978.
2 Interpretation
Section 2(1) of the principal Act is hereby amended by repealing the definitions of the terms “coal”
and “coal mine”
, and substituting the following definitions:
“‘Coal’ means anthracite, bituminous coal, sub-bituminous coal, brown coal, or lignite, produced from a coal mine:
“‘Coal mine’ means an opencast coal quarry as defined in section 2 of the Coal Mines Act 1925:”.
This Act is administered in the Ministry of Energy.
