An Act to amend the Immigration Act 1964

BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1 Short Title and commencement

(1)

This Act may be cited as the Immigration Amendment Act (No. 2) 1978, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Immigration Act 1964 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).

(2)

This Act shall come into force on the 19th day of October 1978.

2 Form of entry permits

(1)

Notwithstanding anything in the principal Act or in the Immigration Restriction Regulations 1930, every entry permit granted or issued for the purposes of the principal Act before the commencement of this Act shall be deemed for all purposes to have been validly granted or issued if it was granted or issued in a form for the time being approved by the Minister.

(2)

Nothing in subsection (1) of this section shall—

(a)

Affect the rights of the parties under any judgment given in any Court before the commencement of this Act, or under any judgment given on appeal from any such judgment, whether the appeal is commenced before or after the date of the commencement of this Act:

(b)

Apply in respect of any permit the validity of which is in issue before any Court at the date of the commencement of this Act.
