An Act to amend the Tourist Hotel Corporation Act 1974

BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1 Short Title

This Act may be cited as the Tourist Hotel Corporation Amendment Act 1978, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Tourist Hotel Corporation Act 1974 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).

2 Interpretation

Section 2 of the principal Act is hereby amended by repealing subsection (2), and substituting the following subsection:

“(2)

In this Act, reference to New Zealand residents shall,—

“(a)

In relation to the Cook Islands, be deemed to include reference to the residents of the Cook Islands:

“(b)

In relation to Western Samoa, be deemed to include reference to the residents of Western Samoa.”

3 Functions and powers of Corporation in relation to Western Samoa

(1)

Section 6(1)(a) of the principal Act is hereby amended by omitting the words “and the Cook Islands”, and substituting the words “, the Cook Islands, and Western Samoa.”

(2)

Section 7(1)(p) of the principal Act is hereby amended by omitting the words “and the Cook Islands”, and substituting the words “, the Cook Islands, and Western Samoa”.

This Act is administered by the Tourist Hotel Corporation of New Zealand.
