This Act may be cited as the Apiaries Amendment Act 1978, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Apiaries Act 1969 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).

Section 2(1) of the principal Act is hereby amended by inserting, after the definition of the term “beekeeper”, the following definition:

The said section 2(1) is hereby further amended by repealing the definition of the term “Minister” (as amended by section 3(6) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries Amendment Act 1972), and substituting the following definition:

The principal Act is hereby further amended by omitting the heading “Importation of Bees, Honey, and Appliances” appearing before section 21 of the principal Act, and substituting the heading “Importation of Bees, Bee Products, and Appliances”.

Section 21 of the principal Act is hereby amended by omitting the word “honey”, and substituting the words “bee products”.

Section 22 of the principal Act is hereby amended—

Section 23(1) of the principal Act is hereby amended by omitting the word “honey” from both places where it occurs, and substituting in each case the words “bee products”.

Section 24a of the principal Act (as inserted by section 2 of the Apiaries Amendment Act 1971) is hereby amended by inserting, after the word “bees” in both places where it occurs, the words, “bee products,”.

Section 24b of the principal Act (as inserted by section 3 of the Apiaries Amendment Act 1971) is hereby amended by inserting, after the word “bees” wherever it occurs, the words, “bee products,”.
