An Act to amend the Waitangi National Trust Board Act 1932

BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1 Short Title

This Act may be cited as the Waitangi National Trust Board Amendment Act 1979, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Waitangi National Trust Board Act 1932 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).

2 Power to set admission fees

(1)

Section 3 of the principal Act (as amended by section 3 of the Waitangi National Trust Board Amendment Act 1958 and section 2 of the Waitangi National Trust Board Amendment Act 1968) is hereby further amended by adding the following subsection:

“(4)

The Board may, by resolution, fix reasonable charges for any admission of persons, horses, and vehicles to any lands or premises for the time being vested in the Board or under its control.”

(2)

Section 7(1)(e) of the principal Act is hereby con-sequentially repealed.

3 Certain penalties increased

(1)

Section 6(1) of the principal Act (as amended by section 7(1) of the Decimal Currency Act 1964) is hereby further amended by omitting the expression “3 months or to a fine of $100”, and substituting the expression “1 month or to a fine not exceeding $500”.

(2)

Section 7 of the principal Act is hereby amended by inserting, after subsection (1), the following subsection:

“(1A)

Any bylaw made by the Board under this Act may prescribe fines not exceeding $250 for any breach thereof, and in the case of a continuing breach may prescribe a further fine not exceeding $5 for every day or part of a day during which the breach has continued.”

This Act is administered in the Department of Lands and Survey.
