An Act to amend the Forests Act 1949
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
1 Short Title
This Act may be cited as the Forests Amendment Act 1979, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Forests Act 1949 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
2 Effect of setting apart land as State forest land
Section 19(1) of the principal Act is hereby amended by adding the following proviso:
“Provided that, with the consent of the Minister, it shall be lawful for State forest land to be taken or proclaimed as a road pursuant to the Public Works Act 1928.”
3 Repeals and revocations
(1)
The principal Act is hereby amended—
(a)
By repealing section 15(3A) (as inserted by section 3(1) of the Forests Amendment Act 1973):
(b)
By repealing paragraph (qq) of section 72(1) (as inserted by section 3(2) of the Forests Amendment Act 1973):
(c)
By omitting from section 72(4) the words “or paragraph (qq)”
(as inserted by section 3(3) of the Forests Amendment Act 1973).
(2)
The Forests Amendment Act 1973 is hereby consequentially amended by repealing section 3.
(3)
The South Island Beech Forests Management and Utilisation Council Regulations 1974 and the South Island Beech Forests Management and Utilisation Council Establishment Notice 1974 are hereby revoked.
This Act is administered in the New Zealand Forest Service.
