An Act to amend the Acts Interpretation Act 1924
1 Short Title and commencement
(1)
This Act may be cited as the Acts Interpretation Amendment Act (No. 2) 1979, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Acts Interpretation Act 1924 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
(2)
This Act shall come into force on the 1st day of April 1980.
2 Meaning of “District Court”
and “High Court”
(1)
Section 4 of the principal Act is hereby amended by inserting, after the definition of the term “Cook Islands”
, the following definition:
“‘District Court’ means a District Court constituted by section 3 of the District Courts Act 1947; and ‘Chief District Court Judge’ and ‘District Court Judge’ have corresponding meanings:”.
(2)
The said section 4 is hereby further amended by inserting, after the definition of the term “Governor in Council”
, the following definition:
“‘High Court’ means the High Court of New Zealand:”.
(3)
The said section 4 is hereby further amended by omitting the definition of the term “Supreme Court”
.
