An Act to amend the Health Act 1956
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
1 Short Title and commencement
(1)
This Act may be cited as the Health Amendment Act 1980, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Health Act 1956 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
(2)
This Act shall come into force on the 28th day after the date on which it receives the Governor-General’s assent.
2 Principal functions of Department
Section 7 of the principal Act is hereby amended by inserting, after paragraph (d), the following paragraph:
“(da)
To carry out inspections of factories within the meaning of section 2 of the Factories Act 1946 in relation to matters concerning the public health and the prevention or treatment of disease, and to carry out all such inspections as may be required or authorised by or under any other Act:”.
This Act is administered in the Department of Health.
