1 Short Title and commencement


This Act may be cited as the Family Proceedings Act 1980.


Except as provided in subsection (3) and in section 190(3), this Act shall come into force on 1 October 1981.


Sections 144 to 146 and 149 shall come into force on a date to be appointed by the Governor-General by Order in Council.


An order under this section is secondary legislation (see Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019 for publication requirements).
