An Act to amend the Gas Industry Act 1958

BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1 Short Title

This Act may be cited as the Gas Industry Amendment Act 1981, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Gas Industry Act 1958 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).

2 Minister may declare areas to be regions for purposes of section 20b

Section 20b of the principal Act (as inserted by section 5 of the Local Government Amendment Act 1979) is hereby amended by adding the following subsection:

“(6)

The Minister may from time to time, by notice in the Gazette, declare any area in New Zealand, not including any land included in a region, to be a region for the purposes of this section; and, in any such case, this section shall apply as if references to the regional council or united council of a region were references to every territorial authority whose district comprises the whole or any part of the declared area.”

This Act is administered in the Ministry of Energy.
