An Act to amend the Ministry of Energy Act 1977

BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1 Short Title

This Act may be cited as the Ministry of Energy Amendment Act 1981, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Ministry of Energy Act 1977 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).

2 General functions of Ministry in relation to energy policies

Section 11(4) of the principal Act is hereby amended by repealing paragraph (k), and substituting the following paragraph:

“(k)

For the purpose of implementing policies relating to energy, make financial grants or loans or pay subsidies, out of money appropriated by Parliament for the purpose:”.

3 Regulations

Section 28(1) of the principal Act is hereby amended by inserting, after paragraph (a), the following paragraph:

“(ab)

Prescribing offences in respect of the contravention of or non-compliance with any regulations made under this section, and the amounts of the fines that may be imposed in respect of any such offences, which fines shall be an amount not exceeding $1,000:”.

This Act is administered in the Ministry of Energy.
