An Act to amend the Animal Remedies Act 1967

BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1 Short Title

This Act may be cited as the Animal Remedies Amendment Act 1982, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Animal Remedies Act 1967 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).

2 Requirement for renewal of licences abolished

(1)

Section 21 of the principal Act is hereby amended—

(a)

By omitting from subsection (6)(c) the words “, number, and period of validity”, and substituting the words “and the number”:

(b)

By omitting from subsection (7)(e) the words “and period of validity”.

(2)

Section 23 of the principal Act is hereby amended by omitting from subsection (1), and also from subsection (2), the words “, unless sooner cancelled, revoked, or suspended under this Act, continue in force for a period of five years, or such shorter period from the date of its issue as the Board may determine, and shall then expire”, and substituting in each case the words “continue in force unless cancelled, revoked, or suspended under this Act”.

Section 24(5) of the principal Act is hereby amended by omitting the words “sections 23 and 25”, and substituting the expression “section 23”.

Section 25 of the principal Act is hereby repealed.

(5)

Section 31 of the principal Act is hereby amended—

(a)

By omitting from subsection (1) the word “renewal,”:

(b)

By omitting from subsection (2)(d) the words “, the date on which it was issued, and its period of validity”, and substituting the words “and the date on which it was issued”.

(6)

Section 34 of the principal Act (as substituted by section 8(1) of the Animal Remedies Amendment Act 1969) is hereby amended—

(a)

By repealing subsection (1)(b):

By omitting from subsection (1)(c) the words “or renewal”:

(c)

By omitting from subsection (9)(c) the words “or that any licence which has expired or is due to expire be renewed,”:

(d)

By omitting from subsection (10) the words “or refuses to renew any licence on an application for its renewal”.

Section 35(1)(b) of the principal Act is hereby repealed.

(8)

Section 40(1) of the principal Act is hereby amended—

(a)

By repealing paragraph (b):

By omitting from paragraph (c) the words “suspended, or not renewed”, and substituting the words “or suspended”.

(9)

Section 65 of the principal Act is hereby amended by omitting from paragraph (a) the words “and renewal”.
