An Act to amend the Higher Salaries Commission Act 1977
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
1 Short Title
This Act may be cited as the Higher Salaries Commission Amendment Act 1983, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Higher Salaries Commission Act 1977 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
2 Term of office
(1)
Section 6(1) of the principal Act is hereby amended by omitting the words “of 3 years”
, and substituting the words “not exceeding 3 years”
.
(2)
Section 6(3) of the principal Act is hereby repealed.
3 Power to postpone general review
Notwithstanding the provisions of section 19(3) of the principal Act which require a general review of the salaries and allowances of the persons to whom section 12(1)(a) of the principal Act applies to be made by the Higher Salaries Commission within 3 years after the 1st day of April 1981, the Higher Salaries Commission may make that general review within 4 years after that date and as at a date not later than the 1st day of April 1985.
This Act is administered in the Department of Labour.
