WHEREAS by section 131 of the Customs Act 1966 (as amended by section 5 of the Customs Amendment Act 1973 and section 26 of the Customs Acts Amendment Act (No. 2) 1977) it is provided that every Order in Council made under section 124 or section 124a or section 125a of that Act on or after the 1st day of July in any calendar year and laid before Parliament shall expire on the close of the last day of the next ensuing session of Parliament in the following calendar year except so far as it is expressly validated or confirmed by an Act of Parliament passed during that session; and every Order in Council made under section 124 or section 124a or section 125a of that Act on or before the 30th day of June in any calendar year and laid before Parliament shall expire on the close of the last day of that session except so far as it is expressly validated or confirmed by an Act of Parliament passed during that session: And whereas the Customs Tariff (Writing Instruments) Amendment Order 1982, the Customs Tariff (Steel) Amendment Order 1983, the Customs Tariff (Organs) Amendment Order 1983, the Customs Tariff (Tyres) Amendment Order 1983, the Customs Tariff (Clocks and Watches) Amendment Order 1983, the Customs Tariff (Miscellaneous) Amendment Order 1983, and the Customs Tariff (Miscellaneous) Amendment Order (No. 2) 1983, have been made wholly or partly under the authority of the said section 124 on or after the 1st day of July during the previous session but on or before the 30 th day of June during the present session and have been laid before Parliament, and it is desirable to validate and confirm those orders:
