An Act to amend the Dangerous Goods Act 1974

BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1 Short Title

This Act may be cited as the Dangerous Goods Amendment Act 1983, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Dangerous Goods Act 1974 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).

2 Increase in penalties

The principal Act is hereby amended—

(a)

By omitting from section 33(6) the expression “$100”, and substituting the expression “$500”:

(b)

By omitting from section 35(o) the expressions “$1,000” and “$250”, and substituting, respectively, the expressions “$5,000” and “$1,250”:

(c)

By omitting from section 39(2) the expressions “$1,000” and “$250”, and substituting, respectively, the expressions “$5,000” and “$1,250”.

This Act is administered in the Department of Internal Affairs.
