An Act to amend the Energy Resources Levy Act 1976
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
1 Short Title
This Act may be cited as the Energy Resources Levy Amendment Act 1983, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Energy Resources Levy Act 1976 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
2 Interpretation
Section 2(1) of the principal Act is hereby amended by repealing the definition of the expression “coal mine”
(as substituted by section 2 of the Energy Resources Levy Amendment Act 1978), and substituting the following definition:
“‘Coal mine’ means any place where coal is extracted from the ground and access to the coal is obtained by means of the removal of overburden by mechanical or other means so as to expose the coal seam to natural light:”.
This Act is administered in the Ministry of Energy.
