An Act to amend the Litter Act 1979

BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1 Short Title

This Act may be cited as the Litter Amendment Act 1985, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Litter Act 1979 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).

2 Responsibility for promotion of litter control

(1)

The principal Act is hereby amended by repealing section 4, and substituting the following section:

“4

Keep New Zealand Beautiful Incorporated shall be the body primarily responsible for the promotion of litter control in New Zealand.”

(2)

Section 2(1) of the principal Act is hereby consequentially amended by repealing the definition of the term “Litter Control Council”.

This Act is administered in the Department of Internal Affairs.
