An Act to amend the Radiation Protection Act 1965
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
1 Short Title
This Act may be cited as the Radiation Protection Amendment Act 1986, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Radiation Protection Act 1965 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
2 Four new sections (relating to Radiation Protection Advisory Council) substituted in principal Act
3 Transitional provisions
(1)
Notwithstanding the provisions of section 2 of this Act,—
(a)
Every member of the Council in office immediately before the commencement of this Act and appointed under paragraph (b) of section 5(2) of the principal Act (as repealed by section 2 of this Act) shall be deemed to have been duly appointed under paragraph (e) of section 5(2) of the principal Act (as substituted by section 2 of this Act); and
(b)
Every member of the Council in office immediately before the commencement of this Act and appointed under paragraph (c) of section 5(2) of the principal Act (as repealed by section 2 of this Act) shall be deemed to have been duly appointed under paragraph (d) of section 5(2) of the principal Act (as substituted by section 2 of this Act); and
(c)
Every member of the Council in office immediately before the commencement of this Act and appointed under paragraph (f) of section 5(2) of the principal Act (as repealed by section 2 of this Act) shall be deemed to have been duly appointed under paragraph (f) of section 5(2) of the principal Act (as substituted by section 2 of this Act).
(2)
Notwithstanding the provisions of section 2 of this Act, the term of office of every person deemed by subsection (1) of this section to have been duly appointed to the Council shall expire on the date on which, but for the passing of this Act, that person’s term would have expired under the provisions of the principal Act.
