The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:

  • This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent.

3 Availability of agendas and reports

  • Section 46A(7) of the principal Act is amended by omitting the words “Subject to subsection (7A) of this section, where an item is not on the agenda for a meeting, that item may be dealt with at that meeting if”, and substituting the words “An item that is not on the agenda for a meeting may be dealt with at the meeting if”.

4 New section 51A substituted

  • The principal Act is amended by repealing section 51A, and substituting the following section:

    “51A Public notification of resolution at extraordinary meeting

    • “(1) A local authority must, as soon as practicable, publicly notify any resolution passed at an extraordinary meeting of the local authority unless—

      • “(a) the resolution was passed at a meeting or part of a meeting from which the public was excluded; or

      • “(b) the extraordinary meeting was publicly notified at least 5 working days before the day on which the meeting was held.

      “(2) For the purposes of this section, resolution means the resolution on the matter or matters for which the extraordinary meeting was held.”
