1 Title

This order is the Education (Name Change for NZIST) Order 2020.

2 Commencement

This order comes into force on the day after the date of its notification in the Gazette.

3 Name of New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology changed

The name of New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology is changed to Te Pūkenga—New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology.

4 Consequential amendments

(1)

Amend the Education and Training Act 2020 as set out in Schedule 1.

(2)

Amend the enactments specified in Schedule 2 as set out in that schedule.

1 Amendments to interpretation provisions

(1)

In section 10(1), repeal the definitions of New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology or NZIST and NZIST subsidiary.

(2)

In section 10(1), insert in their appropriate alphabetical order:

Te Pūkenga—New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology means the institute continued by section 314

Te Pūkenga—New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology subsidiary means a Crown entity subsidiary of Te Pūkenga—New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology.

In Schedule 14, clause 1, repeal the definitions of NZIST and NZIST subsidiary.

(4)

In Schedule 14, clause 1, insert in its appropriate alphabetical order:

Te Pūkenga—New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology subsidiary means—

(a)

a Crown entity subsidiary listed in the second column of the table in clause 20(3) of Schedule 1:

a subsidiary formed by Te Pūkenga—New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology under section 340(1).

2 References replaced

In the provisions of the Education and Training Act 2020 specified in the third column of the following table, replace the reference specified opposite it in the first column with the reference specified opposite it in the second column of the table in each place. References to provisions in the third column are references to sections unless otherwise indicated.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order, which comes into force on the day after the date of its notification in the Gazette, changes the name of the New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology to Te Pūkenga—New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology. It also replaces references to the old name, used in the Education and Training Act 2020 and other legislation, with references to the new name.

1 General

This is a consolidation of the Education (Name Change for NZIST) Order 2020 that incorporates the amendments made to the legislation so that it shows the law as at its stated date.

2 Legal status

A consolidation is taken to correctly state, as at its stated date, the law enacted or made by the legislation consolidated and by the amendments. This presumption applies unless the contrary is shown.
