An Act to amend the Boilers, Lifts, and Cranes Act 1950

BE IT ENACTED by the Parliament of New Zealand as follows:

1 Short Title

This Act may be cited as the Boilers, Lifts, and Cranes Amendment Act 1988, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Boilers, Lifts, and Cranes Act 1950 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).

2 Issue of certificates of inspection

Section 11(1) of the principal Act is hereby amended by omitting the words “shall report to the Secretary accordingly, who, if satisfied that all the requirements of this Act have been complied with,”.

3 Duration of certificate for other machinery

(1)

Section 13(1) of the principal Act is hereby amended by inserting, after the word “period”, the words “(not exceeding 12 months)”.

(2)

Section 19(2) of the principal Act is hereby consequentially amended by omitting the expression “6”, and substituting the expression “12”.

(3)

Section 13(2) of the principal Act is hereby consequentially repealed.

(4)

Subsections (1) to (3) of this section shall come into force on the 1st day of April 1989.

This Act is administered in the Ministry of Transport.
