This Act may be cited as the Clean Air Amendment Act 1988, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Clean Air Act 1972 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).

Clause 1(1) of the Third Schedule to the principal Act is hereby amended by repealing paragraph (e), and substituting the following paragraph:

Notwithstanding anything in subsection (1) of this section, the person (if any) who, immediately before the commencement of this section, held office as a member of the Council pursuant to clause 1(1)(e) of the Third Schedule to the principal Act shall, unless that person sooner dies or vacates office under clause 1(3) of that Schedule, continue to hold that office until the expiry of the term for which that person was appointed, and shall be eligible for reappointment.
