(1) This Act may be cited as the Tauranga-Moana Maori Trust Board Amendment Act 1988, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Tauranga-Moana Maori Trust Board Act 1981 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).

(2) This Act shall come into force on the 28th day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent.

Notwithstanding anything in section 5(1) of the principal Act, as soon as practicable after the commencement of this Act, the Governor-General shall, on the recommendation of the Minister of Maori Affairs, appoint such number of persons not exceeding 5 as the Minister thinks fit to be further initial members of the Board and to act with those already appointed in accordance with that provision of the principal Act.
