The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:
1 Title
-
(1) This Act is the Trade in Endangered Species Amendment Act 2005.
(2) In this Act, the Trade in Endangered Species Act 1989 is called
“the principal Act”
.
2 Commencement
This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent.
3 Custody of seized specimens
-
(1) Section 40(2)(b) of the principal Act is amended by omitting the words
“this section”
, and substituting the expression“section 39(4)”
.(2) Section 40(3)(b) of the principal Act is amended by omitting the words
“this section”
, and substituting the expression“section 39(4)”
.(3) Section 40(4) of the principal Act is amended by omitting the words
“this section”
, and substituting the expression“section 39”
.
4 Release of seized specimens
Section 41 of the principal Act is amended by inserting, after the word
“specimen”
where it last appears, the words“, receptacle, or thing”
.
5 Disposal of seized documents
Section 42(3) of the principal Act is amended by omitting the word
“attendent”
, and substituting the word“attendant”
.
