An Act to amend the Meat Act 1981

BE IT ENACTED by the Parliament of New Zealand as follows:

1 Short Title

This Act may be cited as the Meat Amendment Act 1991, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Meat Act 1981 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).

2 Disposition of levies

Section 44(1) of the principal Act (as substituted by section 5(1) of the Meat Amendment Act 1985) is hereby amended by adding the words “on the recommendation of the Animal Health Board established under section 13 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries Act 1953”.

3 Regulations

Section 49 of the principal Act is hereby amended by adding the following subsection:

“(4)

No regulations shall be made under subsection (1)(w) of this section except on the recommendation of the Minister, who shall not recommend their making without first consulting the Animal Health Board established under section 13 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries Act 1953 and Federated Farmers of New Zealand Incorporated.”

This Act is administered in the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries.
