An Act to amend the Citizenship Act 1977
BE IT ENACTED by the Parliament of New Zealand as follows:
1 Short Title
This Act may be cited as the Citizenship Amendment Act 1992, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Citizenship Act 1977 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).

4 Citizenship by birth

(1) This subsection substituted s 6(4) of the principal Act.
(2) The following provisions are hereby consequentially repealed:
(a) Section 10 of the Foreign Affairs Amendment Act 1988:
(b) So much of the Schedule to the External Relations Act 1988 as relates to the Citizenship Act 1977:
(c) So much of Schedule 2 to the New Zealand Trade Development Board Act 1988 as relates to the Citizenship Act 1977.
6 Citizenship by grant
This section substituted s 8(2)(f)(i) of the principal Act.
7 Grant of citizenship to spouse of New Zealand citizen
This section inserted s 8A of the principal Act.
8 Grant of citizenship in special cases
9 Existing rights of citizenship protected
This section amended s 13(4)(b) of the principal Act.
10 Evidentiary certificates
This section substituted s 21 of the principal Act.

(2) This subsection amended s 28(i) of the principal Act.
(3) This subsection inserted s 28(i)(viia) and (viib) of the principal Act.
(4) This subsection inserted section 28(2).
13 Validation of certain prescribed fees
The imposition, recovery, and application of fees under regulation 14 of the Citizenship Regulations 1978 in respect of certificates of confirmation of status as a New Zealand citizen and denial of status as a New Zealand citizen are hereby validated and deemed to have been lawfully imposed, recovered, and applied.
14 Saving
Notwithstanding anything in this Act or any other enactment, but subject to section 13 of this Act, every application lodged under the principal Act before the date on which this Act comes into force, but not finally determined before that date, shall be determined as if this Act had not been passed.
