Pursuant to section 2(2) of the Electricity Amendment Act 2006, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following order.
Order
1 Title
This order is the Electricity Amendment Act 2006 Commencement Order 2010.
2 Commencement of provisions of Electricity Amendment Act 2006 not yet in force
All the provisions of the Electricity Amendment Act 2006 that are not yet in force come into force on 1 April 2010.

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This order brings into force, on 1 April 2010, the provisions of the Electricity Amendment Act 2006 that are not already in force. Those provisions are sections 4, 5, 6(4) to (9), 8, 9(3), 11 to 25, 26(2) to (8), 28, 32 to 41, 43, and the Schedule.
The provisions being brought into force—
require electricity generators and electricity distributors to have safety management systems:
substitute new Parts dealing with restrictions on who may do what kinds of electrical work, the registration of electrical workers, and disciplinary matters:
make changes to provisions relating to the Electrical Workers Registration Board:
create new offences and an infringement offence regime:
make associated technical and transitional changes.
The provisions brought into force by this order come into force at the same time as the Electricity (Safety) Regulations 2010, which replace the Electricity Regulations 1997.
