106 Review of statutory authorities for information matching


As soon as practicable after 1 January 1994, and then at intervals of not more than 5 years, the Commissioner shall—


review the operation of every information matching provision since—


19 December 1991 (in the case of the first review carried out under this paragraph); or


the date of the last review carried out under this paragraph (in the case of every subsequent review); and


consider whether or not, in the Commissioner’s opinion,—


the authority conferred by the information matching provision should be continued; and


any amendments to the provision are necessary or desirable; and


report the Commissioner’s findings to the responsible Minister.


As soon as practicable after receiving a report from the Commissioner under subsection (1)(c), the responsible Minister shall lay a copy of that report before the House of Representatives.
