An Act to confirm and validate certain subordinate legislation
BE IT ENACTED by the Parliament of New Zealand as follows:
1 Short Title and commencement
(1)
This Act may be cited as the Subordinate Legislation (Confirmation and Validation) Act 1993.
(2)
Except as provided in section 6(5) of this Act, this Act shall come into force on the day on which it receives the Royal assent.
2 Act binds the Crown
This Act binds the Crown.
Part I Confirmations and Validations
3 Orders under Customs Act 1966
The following orders are hereby confirmed:
(a)
The Excise Duty (Alcoholic Beverages Indexation) Amendment Order 1993:
(b)
The Excise Duty (Tobacco Products Indexation) Amendment Order 1993.
4 Regulations under Fisheries Act 1983
The Fisheries (Catch Against Quota) Regulations 1993 are hereby confirmed.
5 Orders under Tariff Act 1988
The following orders are hereby validated and confirmed:
(a)
The Tariff Concessions (Passengers’ Baggage and Effects) Amendment Order 1992:
(b)
The Tariff (Underpants and Briefs) Amendment Order 1992:
(c)
The Tariff (Alcoholic Beverages Indexation) Amendment Order 1993:
(d)
The Tariff (Tobacco Products Indexation) Amendment Order 1993:
(e)
The Tariff (Miscellaneous) Amendment Order 1993:
(f)
The Tariff (Product Graduation) Amendment Order 1993:

6 Order under Civil Aviation Act 1990
(1)
Clause 4 of the Civil Aviation (Safety) Levies Order 1993 is hereby amended by revoking subclause (1), and substituting the following subclause:
“(1)
Every air passenger operator shall impose on every passenger carried by the operator on any trip a passenger levy of $2 where the trip commences on any day during the period beginning with the 1st day of July 1993 and ending with the close of the 30th day of June 1994; and, notwithstanding section 42d(1) of the Act, every air passenger operator shall pay to the Authority a passenger levy calculated at the rate of $1.80 per passenger carried by the operator on any such trip.”
(2)
Clause 4 of the said order is hereby amended by inserting in subclause (4), and also in subclause (5), after the words “the passenger levy payable”
wherever they occur, the words “to the Authority”
.
(3)
Clause 4 of the said order may be amended or revoked as if the amendments effected by subsections (1) and (2) of this section had been effected by Order in Council and not by this Act.
(4)
The Civil Aviation (Safety) Levies Order 1993 (as amended by subsections (1) and (2) of this section) is hereby confirmed.
(5)
Subsections (1) and (2) of this section shall be deemed to have come into force on the 1st day of July 1993.
7 Orders under Commodity Levies Act 1990
The following orders are hereby confirmed:
(a)
The Commodity Levies (Winemaking Grapes) Order 1992:
(b)
The Commodity Levies (Eggs) Order 1993.

8 Repeals
The following enactments are hereby repealed:
(a)
The Subordinate Legislation (Confirmation and Validation) Act 1992:
(b)
The Primary Products Marketing (Regulations Confirmation) Act 1993.
