This Act may be cited as the Forests Amendment Act 1994, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Forests Act 1949 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).

Section 2(1) of the principal Act is hereby amended by adding to the definition of the term “sawmill” (as inserted by section 2(1) of the Forests Amendment Act 1993) the words “; and includes any industrial plant (whether combined with or separate from any plant used to produce sawn timber or woodchips) that is used to produce veneer”.

Section 67D(1)(b)(vii) of the principal Act (as inserted by section 3 of the Forests Amendment Act 1993) is hereby amended by omitting the words “reserved under the South Island Landless Natives Act 1906”, and substituting the words “permanently reserved under the South Island Landless Natives Act 1906 and having the status of Maori land or General land owned by Maori under Te Ture Whenua Maori Act 1993”.
