51 Registrar to be notified when disinterred body disposed of or removed

(1)

A person who disposes of a body that has been disinterred (otherwise than by returning it to the place where it was previously interred) shall, within 5 working days of doing so, notify a Registrar of where and how it was disposed of.

(2)

A person who removes—

(a)

from New Zealand for disposal outside New Zealand; or

(b)

for anatomical examination under the Human Tissue Act 2008,—

a body that has been disinterred shall notify a Registrar of the removal.

(3)

Subject to section 82, a Registrar who is notified under this section shall record as information relating to the death of the person whose body has been disposed of or removed—

(a)

where the body has been disposed of; or

(b)

that the body has been removed from New Zealand for disposal outside New Zealand; or

(c)

that the body has been removed for anatomical examination under the Human Tissue Act 2008.
