This Act may be cited as the Appropriation (Financial Review) Act 1995.

Whereas, in accordance with section 12 of the Public Finance Act 1989, the Minister of Finance approved for the year ended with the 30th day of June 1994—

And whereas such expenses were incurred and such expenditure was made accordingly: Be it therefore enacted that the incurring of those expenses and the expenditure of that public money is hereby confirmed.

Whereas in the year ended with the 30th day of June 1994, the Department of Justice incurred expenses in the sum of $215,470,000 against the appropriation for other expenses incurred in respect of revaluation losses: And whereas that sum exceeded by $74,001,000 the amount appropriated by Parliament for expenses to be incurred in that year by the Department of Justice in respect of revaluation losses: Be it therefore enacted that the incurring of those expenses in the sum of $74,001,000, being a sum in excess of the amount appropriated by Parliament, is hereby validated.

Whereas, in the year ended with the 30th day of June 1994, the Audit Office incurred expenses in the sum of $2,419,000 against the appropriation for other expenses incurred in respect of litigation costs: And whereas that sum exceeded by $227,000 the amount appropriated by Parliament for expenses to be incurred in that year by the Audit Office in respect of litigation costs: Be it therefore enacted that the incurring of those expenses in the sum of $227,000, being a sum in excess of the amount appropriated by Parliament, is hereby validated.

Whereas, in the year ended with the 30th day of June 1994, the Ministry of Pacific Island Affairs incurred expenses—

And whereas those sums exceeded by $42,000, $14,000, and $59,000 respectively the amounts appropriated by Parliament for expenses to be incurred in that year by the Ministry of Pacific Island Affairs in respect of those classes of outputs: Be it therefore enacted that the incurring of those expenses in the sums of $42,000, $14,000, and $59,000, being sums in excess of the amounts appropriated by Parliament, is hereby validated.

Whereas, in the year ended with the 30th day of June 1994, the Ministry of Commerce incurred expenses in the sum of $2,266,000 against the appropriation for the policy advice—business development class of outputs: And whereas that sum exceeded by $20,000 the aggregate of the amount appropriated by Parliament for expenses to be incurred in that year by the Ministry of Commerce in respect of that class of outputs and the amount approved by the Minister of Finance, in accordance with section 12 of the Public Finance Act 1989, for that class of outputs: Be it therefore enacted that the incurring of those expenses in the sum of $20,000, being a sum in excess of the aggregate of the amount appropriated by Parliament and the amount so approved, is hereby validated.
