Department of Justice (Restructuring) Act Commencement Order 2004
Note
This order is administered in the Ministry of Justice.
Pursuant to section 6(4) of the Department of Justice (Restructuring) Act 1995, Her Excellency the Administrator of the Government, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following order.
1 Title
This order is the Department of Justice (Restructuring) Act Commencement Order 2004.
2 Commencement of section 6 of Department of Justice (Restructuring) Act 1995
Section 6 of the Department of Justice (Restructuring) Act 1995 comes into force on 1 December 2004.
Diane Morcom,
Clerk of the Executive Council.
Explanatory note
This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This order brings into force section 6 of the Department of Justice (Restructuring) Act 1995 on 1 December 2004. Section 6 abolishes the former Department of Justice and consequentially amends the State Sector Act 1988 and the Ombudsmen Act 1975. The commencement of section 6 was delayed to ensure that the former department's residual liabilities were discharged before its abolition. The former Department of Justice is therefore abolished.
Issued under the authority of the Acts and Regulations Publication Act 1989.
Date of notification in Gazette: 14 October 2004.
