Present:
Her Excellency the Governor-General in Council
This order is made under section 78D of the Dog Control Act 1996—
(a)
on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council; and
(b)
on the recommendation of the Minister of Local Government made after consulting the Minister for Disability Issues in accordance with section 78D(2) of that Act.
Order
1 Title
This order is the Dog Control (Schedule 5) Order 2024.
2 Commencement
This order comes into force on 20 December 2024.
3 Principal Act
This order amends the Dog Control Act 1996.
4 Schedule 5 amended
(1)
In Schedule 5, repeal the item relating to K9 Search Medical Detection.
(2)
In Schedule 5, insert in its appropriate alphabetical order:
Pawsible Service Dogs
Rachel Hayward,
Clerk of the Executive Council.
Explanatory note
This note is not part of the order but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This order, which comes into force on 20 December 2024, amends the Dog Control Act 1996 (the Act).
Clause 4 amends the list in Schedule 5 of the Act of organisations that are authorised to certify dogs as disability assist dogs by—
repealing the reference to K9 Search Medical Detection:
inserting a reference to Pawsible Service Dogs.
Certifications by K9 Search Medical Detection before this order comes into force continue to be valid despite the amendment relating to that organisation.
