Note
This order is administered in the Ministry of Fisheries.
PURSUANT to section 1(2) of the Fisheries Act 1996, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, makes the following order.
1 Title
This order may be cited as the Fisheries Act Commencement Order 1993.
2 Commencement of provisions relating to southern scallops
Sections 312 and 313 of the Fisheries Act 1996 come into force on 1 October 1998.

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This order brings into force on 1 October 1998 sections 312 and 313 of the Fisheries Act 1996.
Section 312 prohibits the taking of southern scallops for sale outside the scallop season. Section 313 empowers the closure of part or parts of the southern scallop fishery for the purpose of enhancing the fishery or ensuring that scallop stocks are harvested efficiently.
