An Act to amend the Electricity Act 1992

BE IT ENACTED by the Parliament of New Zealand as follows:

1 Short Title

  • This Act may be cited as the Electricity Amendment Act 1997, and is part of the Electricity Act 1992 (“the principal Act”).

2 Interpretation

  • (1) This subsection amended s 2(1) of the principal Act by inserting para (d) of the definition of the term qualifying experience.

    (2) Section 2(1) of the principal Act is amended by inserting in the definition of the term road, after the words “local authority;”, the words “and also includes a public footpath;”.

    (3) This subsection amended s 2(1) of the principal Act by substituted para (a) of the definition of the term road.

3 Continuance of supply

  • (1) This subsection substituted s 62(1) to (3) of the principal Act.

    (2) Section 62(4) of the principal Act is amended by omitting the words “an electricity distributor”, and substituting the words “a designated electricity distributor”.

    (3) Section 62(5) of the principal Act is amended by omitting the words “electricity distributor to which this section applies”, and substituting the word “person”.

4 Currency of practising licences

  • This section substituted s 100 of the principal Act.

5 Orders to be committed to writing

  • This section inserted s 137(3) and (4) of the principal Act.

6 Information to be supplied to Secretary

  • Section 171(1)(a) of the principal Act is amended by inserting, after the word “section”, the words “, which statements and information must be supplied within 5 working days after the statements and information are first made so available”.

7 Reasonable charge may be imposed for providing copies of statements

  • This section inserted s 171A of the principal Act.
