An Act to amend the Crimes Act 1961
BE IT ENACTED by the Parliament of New Zealand as follows:
1 Short Title and commencement

(1) This Act may be cited as the Crimes Amendment Act 1997, and is part of the Crimes Act 1961 (
“the principal Act”
).(2) This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent.
2 Standard of care required of persons under legal duties

(1) This section inserted s 150A of the principal Act.
(2) Nothing in this section applies in respect of any act or omission that occurred before the commencement of this Act.
3 Correcting drafting error
This section amended paragraph (b) of the definition of the term trial Judge in s 2(1) of the principal Act.
